PREPARATION

(Read silently to self . . .)

Show us how to put our faith together this Sunday morning, O Lord. For none of us has enough strength to make it alone. May this place be pooled with light so we can see You better. Let smiles run easily -along each row and from face-to-face. May prayers leap quickly to our lips – for the stranger sitting next to us and for the stranger languishing on the other side of the world. Don’t let us forget to say a prayer for those who could not come today. And pray for others who did not care to come. May today make a difference in our lives because we have drawn closer to each other and to You. Amen.

* CALL TO WORSHIP (responsive)

May the beauty of God’s face be revealed to us.

May the breath of God blow on the embers of our soul.

May a spark ignite our lives with a mountain-top experience.

May God give us faith for when we need to pilgrim through the valley.

May the Christ who transforms death into life, shine light into the time of worship,

that a portion of what is good and holy may be revealed to us and we may leave here praising our Savior all-the-day long.

HYMN #341 -- "Blessed Assurance"

PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison)

Lord, the world has its share of eager longing as do we. There have been days when we knew futility. We prayed for a sign and got silence. We groaned in grief, and sadness was our daily bread. Reveal how You are working for our good and the goodness of the creation You love. We pray to have hope - not as just as a word - but as a conviction. Intercede, and bring about a change. Take our sighs and return Your songs. In Christ, we pray. Amen.

(a time of silence…)

ASSURANCE OF PARDON (responsive)

Brothers and sisters, to those who ask is love given,

to those who seek faith is renewed,

to those who knock a way to hope will be found.

May God’s assurance of grace bless us today.

In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
